Steel Buyer
R20,000-25,000 Per Month Basic Salary

A challenging and exciting opportunity exists at a leading steel company in Elandsfontein for a suitably experienced person with the following requirements, reporting to the Planning Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

•3-5 Years relevant experience in buying.
•Strong MS Office skills.
•Strong ERP/BAAN skills would be a distinct advantage

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Steel buying and administration related tasks encompassing but not limited to the following:

•Gathering relevant data for steel buying, such as sales forecasts by category, previous usage by item, stock balances
•Compiling and Interpreting the above data and using it to place orders This will include the consolidation of all the company’s steel requirements
•Generation of monthly board pack schedules and assistance with strategic plan requirements.
•Following and updating all relevant parties on order progress.
•Expediting urgent orders
•Determining appropriate safety stock levels by item and managing stock levels.
•Optimising steel purchases w.r.t. best band buying and working capital both from a Company and Group perspective
•Creating and checking of orders and quotes.
•Knowledge of steel specifications
•Administration back-up and support as required.
•All other steel buying functions
•Maintaining good relationships with steel suppliers
•Resolving of general Planning related issues and queries.
